Julie Pehar R.R.T., B.A., MEd.
Julie Pehar is a passionate advocate for equity, holds a Master’s Degree in Education with specialty in the area of Sociology and Equity and is experienced as an educator, presenter, project manager, facilitator, strategic analyst and capacity builder in government and the non-profit sector. Julie led the Results Based Accountability and Collective Impact initiatives for the human service sector with the Region of Peel and the United Way of Peel Region from 2009-2013 and has gained valuable knowledge and experience in the areas of strategic planning, needs assessment, feasibility, conflict resolution and change management for organizations at a systems level.
Julie has 15 years of experience working directly on the frontline of violence prevention, service response and client advocacy and was the previous manager of the Peel Committee on Sexual Assault at Trillium Health Partners. Most recently, the human service issues dominating the accountability and impact work that Julie has been involved with include poverty reduction, children and youth, violence against women, immigration and newcomers, social inclusion, disability, mental health, families, parenting, homelessness and community health and wellness.
Equity Vision's principles of inclusion and respect were the guiding force behind Julie' long-time work in the area of human rights. Julie was part of the inaugural committee that founded the Halton Organization for Pride and Education (HOPE), a ground-breaking, non-profit anti-homophobia organization. For over 9 years, Julie worked tirelessly with others to raise awareness of homophobia for the benefit of regional government, 3 municipalities and the public and separate school systems. They were instrumental in forming the HOPE Board of Directors, organizing first-ever Pride events in Halton, securing funding for youth support groups, developing and running educational programmes/workshops in schools, churches, and police organizations.
Julie has been a part-time Professor, Police Foundations, Diversity and Equity and a guest lecturer in several faculties and programs including Continuing Education: Program, Planning and Evaluation and Applied Health and Community Studies at Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.
Julie is currently (2013) consulting independently, specializing in Results Based Accountability and Collective Impact education, capacity building, coaching, facilitation and consulting.
Julie is also the co-founder and co-owner of Arro Vision, a consulting firm that helps groups to leverage their most important resource – PEOPLE
